A Beautiful Glittering Lie offers a poignant exploration of the complexities and divisions that arose during the American Civil War. The personal story of Hiram Summers and his family provides a compelling lens through which to view the larger historical context of the conflict. The story is deeply emotional and raw. I think this is one of the best written books I have read recently. I highly recommend it.
