This book kept me on the edge of my seat with all the differing aspects of the civil war, from the families that were left at home, to the soldiers who enlisted, to the young men who were really just boys that became the man of the house. The descriptions of the lives of the characters made you truly feel what their life was like. It gave you a greater insight into what a terrible monstrosity the civil war was.
