Southern Baptists Against the Southern Cross

Southern_Baptist_Convention_logo1A recent decision by the Southern Baptist Convention has received a negative reaction from its congregation. The church requested that members stop flying the Confederate battle flag. As you can tell by the following letters, some members are not happy. What do you think? Do you think the Southern Baptist Church has a case? Or are they merely jumping on the politically correct bandwagon?

CSA.17.Star.Southern.Cross-Flag

Southern Baptists attempt to appease heritage haters and liberals by passing a resolution condemning the Confederate flag and all those who honor and fly her. Thousands of us are lifelong Southern Baptist and have already begun the search for a new denomination…one with leaders who stand with courage and conviction on the word of God and don’t make resolutions based on which way the PC winds happen to be blowing. Apparently, our souls have been deemed less important than that of the “unnamed offended brethren” who will apparently rush to fill the pews now that the resolution has been passed.
Big mistake, SBC…BIG mistake. You are being used by the left to further their Godless agenda and don’t even realize that you are as much a target as ever, no matter how many resolutions like this one you pass.
We heard today that one SBC church in Georgia voted unanimously last night to withdraw from the SBC, and similar votes are scheduled for other congregations in the coming days. We hope and pray thousands will join them in making a stand. If the SBC is bent on condemning ANYTHING that might offend ANYONE, YOU may very well be the next casualty on their list.

Greetings Rev. Smith:

We were in church when you made the announcement that the Convention had voted to pass the Anti-Confederate Flag, Anti-Christian resolution.  The devil shouted with glee that his will has been done!  It is hard for me to believe that with that many preachers present, none took a stand for the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

You are well aware that the Confederate flag proudly displays the Cross of St. Andrew: next to the Cross of Jesus the most scared symbol in all Christianity!  The Constitution of the Confederate States of America plainly stated that God (the Christian God) was the founder of the nation.  It was no accident that the Confederate Congress adopted the Cross of St. Andrew as the symbol of the nation.

The Southern people loved their country and their flag.  Southern Baptist boys fought hard for the Cross of St. Andrew; many willingly gave their lives under that flag!  Those who founded the Southern Baptist Church; those who preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ; those who have been members and who have advanced the church unto this day strongly stood for the Gospel.  Now, the Convention has defecated on all their graves!

By taking an Anti-Cross of St. Andrew; Anti-Gospel stand, the Southern Baptist Convention has replaced Jesus with the devil.

When you made the announcement that the Baptist Church was no longer a Christian organization, we walked out!

If you would like to discuss this e-mail or anything related to the War Between the States, please contact me.

I end most of my personal communications with “God Bless!” but I cannot with this letter.

Southernly Yours,
Gary C. Walker

The Battle of Gaines Mill

watt-house-plateau-700px

On this date in 1862, the Battle of Gaines Mill took place in Hanover County, Virginia. The battle was also known as the First Battle of Cold Harbor and the Battle of Chickahominy River. It was the third battle in the Seven Days Battles, and the first major victory for Confederate General Robert E. Lee. His pre-war reputation was stellar, but after losing the Battle of Cheat Mountain in 1861, some were unsure whether he could take the place of Joseph E. Johnston, who had been the commander of the Army of Northern Virginia until he was wounded at the Battle of Seven Pines on June 1, 1862.

During the Battle of Gaines Mill, the Confederates unusually outnumbered the Federals. Lee led an attack with over 32,000 soldiers at 7 p.m., and this charge is considered to be the biggest assault by the Confederates during the entire war. Union Brig. Gen. Phillip St. George Cooke counter attacked, but the result did little to affect the outcome. Once it was over, the Battle of Gaines Mill was the second bloodiest day of battle in American history.

General Cooke was the father-in-law of Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart, who led the Confederate cavalry. When Stuart learned that Cooke had decided to stay true to the Union, he said, “He will regret it only once, and that will be continually.”

lowes-balloon-at-gaines

Both Confederate and Union troops flew hot air balloons over the battle. This was significant, because it was the first time observation balloons from both sides flew at the same time. The balloons were used for reconnaissance and spotting artillery. Union balloons stationed at the Gaines’ Farm were able to observe what was going on in downtown Richmond, which was only about seven miles away. The largest balloons, such as the Intrepid (pictured below) could carry five people in its basket and held 32,000 cubic feet of lifting gas.

The Crusade against Christianity and the Confederate Flag

csa-bf-cross

The current climate in the United States has become quite disconcerting. Last year, Dylann Roof’s murderous rampage in South Carolina sparked a nationwide frenzy. Surprisingly, his actions didn’t ignite a gun control debate, because he purchased the firearm legally, even though he shouldn’t have qualified. This was an epic fail on the part of the Democrats. So instead of laying blame where it was due (on the killer and white supremacists), the liberals decided to attack the Confederate battle flag instead. It’s interesting that this happened at the same time Obama legalized same-sex marriage, which was a direct attack on Christian values. Because of the coincidental timing, I have to wonder if Roof was a plant. His case has been pushed back to November, and he will likely not be facing a death sentence.

In lieu of the tragedy in Orlando at the Pulse nightclub, Obama and Hillary refused to acknowledge the shooter as being an ISIS terrorist, even though the gunman openly admitted it. Why would they intentionally refuse to acknowledge the fact? The Obama administration is deleting all references made to ISIS in the 911 calls, and is making sure no references to Allah will appear in the documentation, but will instead state that the shooter was acting out of loyalty to God. This is yet another attack on Christian beliefs, and Obama is allowing more so-called “refugees” into the country while he is trying to take away our guns.

Gun-Control-Issue2

The Confederate battle flag is based on St. Andrews Cross. Andrew was the first disciple of Jesus, and was crucified on an X-shaped cross. He is the patron saint of Russia and Scotland. Prior to the War Between the States, nearly 75% of the Southern population was Scottish or Scotch-Irish. The Confederate Southern Cross came from the Celtic symbol. The letter “X” is the Greek letter CHIA and has been used historically to represent Christ, as in “Merry X-Mas.” Illiterate people signed their name with an X, which meant they were pledging their faith and giving their honest oath to God. To attack this flag is a direct attack on Christianity itself, but many people don’t understand this.

The truth is, Confederate soldiers did not fight to preserve slavery. They fought against federal oppression. This is exactly what we are dealing with today – the federal government’s attempt to take away our rights. The Confederate flag does not represent slavery. It represents just the opposite – freedom. As soon as people wake up and start realizing this, then the insanity of doing away with Southern heritage will stop. But as long as Americans continue to buy into the liberal Marxist mindset of political correctness, attacks on the Confederacy, the Bible, Christianity, traditional marriage, and our constitutional rights will continue.

Guns, Flags and Bibles

4025e2778a45606bf4131dcf497c7240

I saw this article a few days ago about a guy who owns a gun shop in Tennessee, and thought I should share. He is going against the current wave of political correctness sweeping the country right now. Here’s the article:

gun-and-bible-ban

In the Age of Obama political correctness has been placed on hyperdrive, but a growing mass of citizenry is rejecting it out of hand and going to great lengths in which to do so.

This rejection is epitomized by a gun shop in Oakland, Tenn., which is handing out Bibles and your choice of an American or Confederate flag with every purchase.

As reported by the Washington Free Beacon, Big Bang Guns is making the offer to every customer who walks in the door. Located just outside of Memphis, the small gun shop (which offers its products online too, by the way) says its promotion is scheduled to run through July 14.

When the shop was asked why the promotion, manager Tony Tavares said, “Why not?”

“It’s pretty patriotic to offer both and a Bible as well,” he told the WFB. “It’s freedom of speech with some religion to go along with it.”

Cue the PC Left’s outrage machine.

So far, customers have really taken to the offer and have responded very positively.

hqdefault

John McFarland, the shop owner, said, “The customers like it. We sell everything from $200 guns all the way up to $20,000 Barretts. It’s picked up really well.”

The shop owner said he’s sick of seeing American traditions and values attacked so he created the promotion as a way to support those who believe as he does.

“I’m at a point in my life where I’m tired of everybody making me feel bad for what my moral beliefs are,” he told the Free Beacon. “I believe there’s history behind the rebel flag, I believe there’s history behind the American flag, I believe in the right to bear arms, and I believe in freedom of religion.”

“I just wanted to let everybody know we believe in that and we support everybody who believes in that,” he added.

“We’re just trying to promote American freedoms,” McFarland said. “I’m pretty outspoken politically and I believe everybody has their rights. I believe if you’re an atheist you have that right. I believe if you believe in God you have that right. And I believe if you believe in the Confederate flag, you believe in the history behind it, you have the right to have it. And that’s where we stand and I’ll stand behind that.”

“To me, that’s more important than any amount of business.”

And to tens of millions of other Americans as well.

This is the Dawning of the Age of Hysteria

dd63e3e440913bfc_CkxowriUUAAmrC9

It isn’t surprising that, following the terrible tragedy in Orlando last weekend, political activists are all over it, screaming about how gun control is the solution. One New York City newspaper give the murderer a free pass while it blamed law-abiding gun owners for the attack. Obama and Hilary Clinton refuse to discuss radical Islamic terrorism, and are instead shifting the focus to “gun control” and “hate crimes.”

04e78288b3fe13f1ccc89de6eb0691488f4f5382

Mass hysteria rules supreme. It’s funny how these incidents happen just at the right time, allowing the perfect opportunity for politically correct representatives to fulfill their agendas and do away with our rights and history. Any restrictions on gun control will directly influence our 2nd Amendment rights. If one restriction is placed, what will stop the PC police from placing more and more until no guns are allowed anywhere? This happened in many countries in the past, and it didn’t lead to anything good. In fact, increasing gun sales in America over recent years have led to lower crime rates. Countries with high rates of civilian firearms ownership are the safest, whereas countries with low rates of civilian firearms ownership are the most violent. This is statistically proven, and yet, our country is leaning toward restricting and denying gun ownership.

gettyimages-539750266-82f8afea06f26e013992bbe07e084ef8a95c69e4-s900-c85

If our politicians were truly concerned about our safety, they would do away with “gun free zones.” The nightclub in Orlando was a gun free zone, where no one was allowed inside with a firearm, so no one had a chance to defend themselves. In recent years, violence in gun free zones has escalated. So it doesn’t matter if guns are restricted or banned, because those who want to kill innocent people will find a way to obtain them. Gun restrictions only affect law-abiding citizens by preventing us from having the ability to defend ourselves, and this leaves us wide open for a take over.

endiaz0621-2

In my opinion, what happened last weekend ties into the shooting that took place last year in South Carolina, when that crazy loon went into a black church and killed innocent people. Instead of blaming the shooter, the PC and Governor Haley blamed the Confederate battle flag, of all things. It’s strange how they can lay blame on guns, flags, hate, or racism, but not attack the real issue, which is our changing society. Why is our country changing so that these mass murders are more common? It is time to face facts. Taking away our rights and privileges which our forefathers fought and died for isn’t going to change the times. Things like this rarely happened back in the Wild West or any other time in our history. So what has changed? And why are we allowing this enemy to penetrate our society? I only hope we don’t wait to fight until it’s too late.

A Beautiful Glittering Lie:

A Novel of the Civil War

So many of the original Southern cities were close to the coast, where fish or other seafood was plentiful.  They were often added to chowder for a fabulous, rich flavor.  As the war between the North and South progressed, the Confederate troops suffered greatly as supplies were cut off.  The basic foods were hard to come by.

This chowder can be made from corn and potatoes without seafood or fish and is equally delicious.  For troops near farms, potatoes and corn, onions and celery would have been available, as would have milk or cream. Bacon was a stock item for both armies and would have been available except when supplies were extremely scarce. Stock was made from scraps of vegetables, saved from other meal preparation.

Wine was a treat, but we can think of making this recipe or receipt, as recipes were called through the 19th century, in 1861 when ingredients still would have been stocked—certainly for the officers. Recipes for stock and chowder have been found among recipes of the era. For our modern cooks, the base of the soup can be made and frozen. Defrost and add seafood or fish of choice. For fewer calories, use milk of choice.

A Beautiful Glittering Lie                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   By J.D. Hawkins

In the spring of 1861, a country once united is fractured by war. Half of America fights for the Confederate cause; the other, for unification. Rebel forces have already seized Fort Morgan and Fort Gaines, a new Confederate president has been elected, and the Constitution has been revised. In north Alabama, a farmer and father of three decides to enlist. For Hiram Summers, it is the end of everything he has ever known.

After Hiram travels to Virginia with the Fourth Alabama Infantry Regiment, he is quickly thrust into combat. His son, David, who must stay behind, searches for adventure at home by traipsing to Huntsville with his best friend, Jake Kimball, to scrutinize invading Yankees. Meanwhile, Caroline – Hiram’s wife and David’s mother – struggles to keep up with the farm as her world revolves around the letters she receives from her husband, whom she misses dearly. As Hiram and his son discover the true meaning of war, they soon realize that their choices have torn their family apart.

In this historical tale, the naïveté of a young country is tested, a father sacrifices everything to defend his home, and a young man longs for adventure – regardless of the perilous cost.

J.E.B. Stuart’s Cavalry

mem5566a

Tomorrow marks a significant event in American history. On June 8, 1863, a Grand Review was held by Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart’s cavalry at Brandy Station, Virginia. The event was reportedly a magnificent display of military tactics and cavalry maneuvers. Unfortunately, the dust the horses stirred up caught the attention of Union General David McMurtrie Gregg, whose cavalry was nearby. Early the following morning, on June 9, 1863, Stuart’s cavalry was taken by surprise when Gregg’s troopers attacked, and a fierce battle ensued, raging all day. The Battle of Brandy Station was the largest cavalry battle to ever take place on North American soil.

brandy-station1

The outcome was that, even though the Yankees now displayed their ability to compete with Confederate cavalry, Stuart managed to ward them off and keep General Robert E. Lee’s infantry screened as they made their way north. You can read more about this in my novel, A Beckoning Hellfire.

http://www.amazon.com/Beckoning-Hellfire-Novel-Civil-War/dp/0595435319?ie=UTF8&keywords=a%20beckoning%20hellfire&qid=1465328752&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

Stuart is one of my favorite Civil War personalities. Not surprisingly, his name is under the current politically correct attack to change all things Confederate and eradicate Southern history.

A school bearing General Stuart’s name is under scrutiny and the PC are trying to force its removal. This goes against what the polls and petitions show: that the vast majority do not favor this institutional vandalism. However, it doesn’t seem to matter or make any difference what the people want.

Monument_Ave_Jeb_Stuart

The Stuart-Mosby Historical Society, on the other hand, has scored a major victory with the restoration of the statue of General Stuart on Monument Avenue in Richmond. Thanks to this project, as well as a maintenance program which will be launched soon, the statue will be a gleaming tribute to General Stuart for years to come.
